The project Dashboard shows aggregate web and product activity. One date range controls all cards on the page.
Select Today, 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days. Headline cards compare the selected range with the preceding range.
The page has Overview, Pages, Events, Sources, and Technology tabs. Each table has a Download CSV control.
Headline cards
- Page views counts browser page view events.
- Visitors counts distinct anonymous visitor identifiers.
- Sessions counts distinct session identifiers in the selected range.
- Events counts stored events, except reserved engagement beacons.
Each headline card shows its current value and its change from the preceding range. The chart shows page views over time.
Realtime
Realtime shows visitors with activity in the last 30 minutes. The page checks for new data every 30 seconds.
The Live tab of the People page lists the active visitors. Open a session there to follow a visitor's reported pages, clicks, and custom events. An administrator must switch on individual surfaces before the project can show these details.
The Live tab groups these visitors by country. It never uses a precise visitor coordinate.
Session quality
- Bounce rate shows the share of visits that bounced.
- Avg visit shows the average time between the first and last session activity.
- Views / visit divides page and screen views by visits.
- Visits shows the session count used by the quality cards.
- Time on page shows average focused and visible engagement when engagement data exists.
A visit bounces when it has at most one page or screen view and no interactive custom event.
Outbound links, downloads, and engagement beacons are not interactive events for this calculation.
Pages and traffic sources
- Top pages ranks paths by page views.
- Referrers ranks reduced referrer hosts.
- Entry pages show the first page of each visit.
- Exit pages show the last page of each visit.
DataVisitors stores a path without its query string. It reduces a referrer to its host.
Channels and campaigns
The Channels card classifies acquisition as direct, paid search, paid social, paid other, or organic search.
It also includes organic social, organic video, AI assistants, email, and referral.
The tracker reads UTM source, medium, campaign, term, and content values. The Campaigns and UTM sources cards appear when data exists.
For an ad click ID, DataVisitors stores the parameter name only. It never stores the click ID value.
Page engagement
The Page engagement card shows each path with average scroll depth and average engaged time.
Engaged time counts only while the document is visible and focused. Scroll depth uses the deepest point reached.
Technology and location
- Countries appears when country data exists.
- Devices groups the coarse device class.
- Browsers groups the reduced browser class.
- Releases shows application versions from mobile or server SDKs when present.
The Query API also supports operating system and application version breakdowns.
Events and revenue
The Custom events card ranks customer event names. Automatic engagement beacons do not appear in this card.
The Revenue card appears for sg_purchase events. It shows the amount and purchase count for each currency.
CSV exports
Each table on the Dashboard has a Download CSV control. The downloads cover these dimensions:
- path
- referrer
- channel
- country
- device
- UTM campaign
Each download uses the current date range. The export protects spreadsheet programs from formula injection.
Range deep links
The range buttons write the address bar. ?range=30d opens the
30-day view directly. The default 7-day view keeps a clean address.
Filter by a property
The Dashboard can show only the events that carry one property value.
- Type
key:valuein the Property filter field beside the range buttons and select Apply. Or add?f=key:valueto the Dashboard address. The Properties tab of the Product page lists the keys and values your events carry. - Read the field. It names the key and the value.
- Clear the field and select Apply to remove the filter.
The filter applies to the headline, the chart, the breakdowns and the custom events. The CSV downloads honour it. A filter that is not valid is ignored.
Annotations
An annotation is a dated note on the chart: "Launched v2", "press mention". A line that moved can then say why.
- Open the project's Tracking page, then the Annotations tab.
- Select Add an annotation.
- Enter the date, a label of up to 80 characters, and a note of up to 500 characters.
- Save the annotation.
DataVisitors draws a marker on the Dashboard chart at the day (or the hour) of the note. Point at the marker to read the label. The Annotations tab lists every note of the period with its author. DataVisitors draws at most 50 markers; the list is complete.
Analysts and administrators can add notes. An analyst can edit their own notes. An administrator can edit and archive any note. An archived note leaves the chart and stays in the audit trail.
The timeseries CSV export has an annotations column with the labels of each day or hour. A public share page never shows an annotation.
Web Vitals
The Web vitals tab of the Insights page shows how your pages load for real visitors.
- Open the project, then Insights, then Web vitals.
- An administrator switches on Web vitals under Settings → Privacy.
- Add
vitalstodata-autocaptureon the install tag.
DataVisitors shows the 75th percentile of each Core Web Vital for the period: Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint, Cumulative Layout Shift, First Contentful Paint and Time to First Byte. Each value has a band: good, needs improvement, or poor. The bands are the web.dev thresholds. The table below shows the same values for each page and for each device class.
A page load sends one beacon with five numbers about the page. The beacon carries nothing about the person. Safari reports no LCP and no INP; those loads count as "no sample", never as fast. INP is final only when the page is hidden, so a tab that the system kills sends nothing.
The workspace overview
Select Overview in the sidebar, under the workspace, to open the combined statistics. The page shows totals, a trend, and one row for each project you can access. Each row shows visitors, page views, visits, and bounce rate with changes from the previous period. Select a project name to open its dashboard.
The Projects page contains project management. The sidebar lists the workspace pages — Projects, Overview, Plan, Organization, and Audit — and, inside a project, Dashboard, Tracking, Insights, Boards, Product, People, Keys, and Settings. Team is under the account's settings.
- The figures add up: a visitor on two projects counts once per project, so the table always sums to the headline.
- A project with no events in the period shows zeros. It is not hidden.
- The period follows the same buttons as the Dashboard, and the address carries it, so you can share a link to the same view.
- The overview uses UTC days. Each project's own Dashboard uses the project's timezone.
- The overview is a Growth feature. On Free and Starter, Overview shows an upgrade message. Projects remains available on its own page.
- A workspace with more than 100 projects sees the 100 most active projects in the period, and a note says so.
Boards
A board is your own page of widgets. Open the project, then Boards.
- Select New board and give it a name. It starts with a headline and a trend.
- Open the board and select Edit.
- Select a widget kind, fill the parameter it needs, and select Add a widget. The kinds are: headline, trend, breakdown by a dimension, a goal, a saved funnel, retention, revenue, values of a custom property, and annotations.
- Drag a widget to change the order. Select Remove to drop one.
- Save the board.
An analyst or an administrator can create and edit a board. An administrator can archive one. A board takes at most 12 widgets. A widget that names a goal or a funnel that no longer exists shows a sentence in its place. A widget that is not in the plan shows a locked card. The period follows the same buttons as the Dashboard and the address carries it.
Search queries
When a project has a Google connection with a Search Console site (Settings → Google), the Dashboard shows a Search queries card: the search terms of the last 28 days with clicks, impressions and the average position. The worker replaces the rows daily. The card is absent for a project without a site. The Query API answers the same rows with the search_query dimension; the range does not apply to it.
