Product / Heatmaps
See where a page gets attention.
Use click and scroll heatmaps to examine interaction patterns. Review the result on the page you want to improve.
- Page layout
- Click areas
- Scroll depth
Inspect interaction, not a recording
Heatmaps summarize click positions and scroll depth. The overlay places the aggregate result on your page. DataVisitors does not record a session replay or a video of each visit.
Collection is opt-in. Set up the tracker and page rules before you expect heatmap results.
Ask a specific page question
Does a signup action receive clicks? Do readers reach the product explanation? Does attention collect around an element that is not interactive?
Use click and scroll patterns to identify a place to investigate. The map shows activity; it does not establish a visitor's intention.
Compare with the outcome
Pair a page heatmap with engagement and a conversion goal. A section can receive attention without helping someone complete the intended action.
Use a consistent date range when you compare the heatmap and the web analytics reports.
Review the collection controls
Your project configuration controls capture. Sensitive content and excluded page areas need the correct tracker settings. Read the integration manual before enabling capture on a new page.
