See acquisition in context
Web analytics measures the website activity your integration collects. Use it to compare visits, pages, traffic sources, and conversion goals. DataVisitors groups acquisition by referrer, channel, and UTM campaign. Break results down by country, device, browser, operating system, and release.
- Review the pages that attract attention.
- Check entry and exit pages.
- Compare visitor and session trends across dates.
- Use the live country map to see current activity at a coarse location level.
Can I measure traffic from AI assistants?
DataVisitors classifies recognized AI referral sources in an AI assistants channel. Supported referrer hosts include ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Copilot. Recognized UTM source values can also identify some AI traffic when a referrer is absent.
This measures visits that reach your website with usable source information. It does not count every AI answer that mentions your brand. A visit without a referrer or campaign source is classified as direct. Use goals and attribution to examine what the collected AI traffic does after arrival.
Look beyond the page view
Review bounce rate, visit duration, views per visit, scroll depth, and time on page. These measures help you distinguish an arrival from meaningful engagement.
Use event or page goals to measure an action that matters to your business. A pricing-page visit and a completed signup answer different questions.
What is the difference between a visitor, a session, and a page view?
A visitor count uses the anonymous identity supplied with collected activity. A session groups activity under a session identifier. A page view records a page load or supported navigation. Repeated views can therefore belong to one visitor and one session.
These counts depend on your integration and privacy settings. A new identity on every request can inflate the visitor count. Recording the same load in both the browser and server can duplicate page views. Use one source for page views and confirm your first events before you compare reports.
Keep unwanted traffic out of your analysis
Bot and referrer-spam filtering removes known unwanted activity before storage. Project Shields provide hostname, country, and path controls. Refusal counts show what the filters exclude.
Filtering cannot guarantee that every unwanted request is detected. Review your project settings when your traffic changes.
A practical growth workflow
Compare your campaign sources. Review their landing pages and engagement. Choose a signup goal. Then use attribution to inspect which sources receive credit.
Export breakdowns or a time series to CSV when you need further analysis. Continue with product analytics for funnels and repeat use. Read the browser setup guide before you connect a website.
